Classified and TRP have collaborated to deliver the Vistar // Powershift groupset — a complete drivetrain system that combines TRP’s electronic shifting components with the Classified Powershift hub to provide a high-performance drivetrain with extended gear range. This system represents the first native groupset integration of Classified’s Powershift technology.
Unlike retrofit compatibility with third-party shifters, the Vistar // Powershift groupset is designed from the ground up to integrate the hub, derailleur, and shift controls in one groupset.
What is the Vistar // Powershift groupset?
The Vistar // Powershift groupset pairs a Classified Powershift hub with TRP’s electronic shifting components, including:
TRP Vistar electronic shift levers and bar-end unit
Wireless rear derailleur
High-performance cassette and crankset options
This results in a 1× drivetrain with electronic control and a wide range of useable gears, offering 16 (for road) or 15 (for gravel) unique gear ratio's.
TRP offers different cassettes, tailored to your needs:
Road: 11-30, 11-32, 11-34
Gravel: 11-36, 11-40
The system achieves these ratio's by combining a 12-speed cassette with the Classified Powershift hub’s two internal gear ratios, while a sequential control mode called QuantumShift automatically manages hub and derailleur shifts to provide smooth, continuous gear progression. The double gears that you have in a classic 2x system are being skipped to avoid hitting double gear ratio's, enabling 15 or 16 unique gear ratio's.
Integrating the Powershift Hub in the Vistar system
Because the Vistar groupset is designed as a complete system, the Classified Powershift hub is fully integrated into the electronic shift architecture. In this setup:
The hub, derailleur, and shift levers communicate wirelessly through the bar-end unit and thru-axle.
Riders can shift up and down through the gear range with a familiar lever interface.
No separate hub shift button or external accessory is required.
Cassette and drivetrain specifics
The Vistar // Powershift groupset uses a TRP-produced 12-speed cassette designed specifically for integration with the Powershift hub. These cassettes are single-block steel units with options such as 11-40T geared for smooth performance and durability.
Because the groupset is engineered as a complete system, the cassette, derailleur, and hub are optimized for chainline and shifting performance.
Gear range and functionality
In practice, the Vistar // Powershift groupset provides:
15 logically sequenced gears for gravel applications (skipping the double gears you have in a standard 2x set-up).
16 sequential gears for road setups (skipping the double gears you have in a standard 2x set-up).
The ability to operate in a fully automatic sequence (QuantumShift) or manually control the hub and derailleur shifts.
A wide overall gear range (up to ~530 %) with smooth transitions between ratios.
These benefits come from the combination of the 12-speed cassette and the Powershift hub’s 2 internal gears, which effectively expands the usable gear range beyond any 1x system on the market.
What this means for riders
The Vistar // Powershift groupset brings several advantages:
Integrated wireless shifting across hub and derailleur.
Broad gear range from a 1× setup, eliminating the need for a front derailleur.
No extra cables or buttons. Please note that the shifter cables need to be plugged into the handlebar unit.
Seamless shifting under load, The Powershift hub shifts seamlessly under load up to 1000 watts.
It represents the most complete and streamlined way to use the Classified Powershift hub in an electronic drivetrain context, with native support for sequential shifting and smooth gear progression.
