Update firmware

Before embarking on your first test ride with your new Classified equiped bike, the thru axle and handlebar unit or ring shifter must be updated to the latest firmware, using the Classified App.

1. Importance of updating firmware

We are constantly looking for ways to increase the performance of our products. Therefore it is important to always install the most recent firmware version on your Classified devices. These updates may contain improvements on speed, battery life, extra functionalities, ...

2. Firmware update

This firmware update is critical to ensure all components run on the latest software and can be paired and used correctly. Products running on different software versions can possibly not be paired before installing the firmware upgrade.

1. Install the Classified app.
2. Open the app and create an account.
3. Turn on your phone's Bluetooth connection.
4. Go to 'My Bike' and choose a name for your bike.
5. First add the thru axle to the app. Click + if you are connecting the thru axle for the first time. Follow the instructions, displayed in the app.
6. The app will tell you if there is an update available. Please install this update and follow the steps, explained in the app.
7. Now add a shifter. Again, follow the steps, explained in the app.
8. The app will tell you if there is an update available. Please install this update and follow the steps, explained in the app.
9. If the app does not immediately find your devices after installing the firmware updates, please go back to the 'My Bikes' main screen. From there you can try to connect with the added sensors again.

3. Legacy software

How to check if my handlebar unit still has legacy software?

• Press and hold the button less than 2 seconds.
• If the LED illuminates solid green (or red), meaning not blinking, it still has legacy software and requires an update before it can be used with the mobile app. The mobile app will automatically update the handlebar unit when adding it.
• Note: Pairing with the thru axle needs to be restored after the update.
